Ron,
I would never pleasure you with a response to your trash writing, no
wonder some companies opt to move to area's condusive to building a
business, and the bad and good times it takes. I am encouraged that you
don't just write trash about Veritel, other high ranking companies and
officials I am sure get your lambasting. You and your publication will
not defeat the spirit of my drive to suceed in our field. Perhaps
someone should describe your apperance, many people find you offense
physically and verbally, your jelousy of me is your own problem, what
start ups have not experienced payroll delays, we are alive and well,
have a great technology, do not give up, and fret little about bad press
from such a low rate newletter like your's. We are slowly getting ahead
with funding from sales and licenseing
However, if your life is made whole by petty penmanship, I wish all the
success. Maybe you should think about writing about all of our
success's. it would probably hurt your maginal ego further. Someday very
soon, someone I am sure will sue you for slander, just to see you spend
money to defend it would be worth it. What I do as a single person is my
business, I have friends that own restaurants. Perhaps your life is
miserable that is why you attack others, journalism is a great tool,
some will always use it different than others , what is important to our
company is respect from industry for our leadership in technology . I
find that the important majority of shareholders in Veritel are very
happy with the recent progress, maybe you gave up in your life and your
pursuit of success, I will not. I do read your newsletter for the
positive content, I have actually gathered great information from some
of your work, keep it flowing, maybe you should visit Veritel and see
some of the new internet applications we have developed and started to
sell. We are now very careful about hiring people too soon, the market
is just starting to emerge.
Regards,
Christopher Tomes

An update on Venture Capital On Line. http://www.vcapital.com
I got some info. that has not been revealed until now. I talked to Bob Cross
the day before yesterday.
They have 18 people now.
They have signed up 600 entrepreneurs for the clearinghouse.
They have raised about $3MM thus far and this is the part that was not
revealed, $1.1MM of that comes from Apex run by George Middlemas, Len
Batterson's old buddy. The Batterson contribution has been $1.3MM (from
Batterson Ventures) and the rest from assorted angels in the "family" of
Len's contacts.
They are getting 100,000 page views a month and about 10% of those go to the
clearinghouse. There are a lot of people who go to the site for general
guidance. They are doing a lot to provide entrepreneurs with resources. For
example, if you are in Atlanta and you want a patent attorney, here are three
guys to go to. Bob explains that there is no referral fee involved, no
kickbacks. They vet the people by talking to them and checking references.
The TDB also put in $250K.
I don't know how many VCs have paid to sign up yet, and I had to get off the
phone with Bob before I could ask him that. I found out last night at the
Webgrrls party that they have signed up 150 VC firms, but I don't know if any
of them are paying customers yet.
They are trying to raise $15MM for the next round.
They hired a VC person from Allied VC? Other people whose cards I have
collected recently include: Mark Solovy, Manager, Midwest Region; Kirstin
Peters, Marketing Manager (by the way, did Ellen Broadbine leave?); and some
guy who came from Holleb & Coff (a law firm that has lost a lot of key people
lately).
EBS is their PR firm; and I think SEI does their site, but that is really
drawing on memory. It used to be Ingenious.

MORE DETAILS...
XML * What it is and how it can be applied to common web applications?
XML has become a hot buzzword in both database and Internet circles. XML or
Extensible Mark-up Language is important because it provides a
platform-independent mechanism for sharing heterogeneous data between
applications via the Web. If you plan to create Web applications that will
share data between heterogeneous sources you should take a look at XML.
XML is both a protocol and a language that became a World Wide Web
Consortium (W3C) standard in February of 1998. XML is all about meta-data -
that is data that describes the meaning of data. XML is also about protocol
simplicity. As a mid-tier protocol, XML separates content, presentation,
and meaning for the information it describes. XML data is highly efficient
and portable and therefore can be used to transfer structured data between
PDAs, Unix, NT, etc. over standard HTTP protocol.
The presentation will provide an overview of XML, debunk common myths and
misunderstandings and demonstrate how XML can be used to solve common
business and technical problems found in today*s web solutions.

Hi Ron.
I hope you can join us next Wednesday at our recruiting party at Martini
Ranch. It should be pretty interesting. Our very own Agency.com band is
performing. The lead singer and guitarist is our North American president,
Kevin Rowe, who is located here in the Chicago office. Unfortunately, I'm
not a very good singer so I didn't make the cut at the auditions. But we are
flying in the rest of the talented band from our New York office.
I think I mentioned to you that we're moving to our new location next week,
225 Michigan Avenue, where will have 5 times the amount of space as we do
now at our loft on Erie. As I'm sure you have read in the papers, it is a
very exciting time here at Agency.com. Our list of interactive clients
includes Compaq, Texaco, 3M, Gucci, Coke, Motorola, British Airways, and
many more Chicago-based fortune 500 companies.
Could you put this in your newsletter? Tell people to bring their resumes
and of course business cards for you! Thanks!

WHEN: Wednesday, November 17th
6 - 8 pm
WHERE: Martini Ranch
