Mick Anic: Relocated to Dallas
Subject: Re: Mick, after yrs, why are you unsubscribing? What are you doing these days?

From: miroslav.anic@gmail.com
To: RONALDMAY@aol.com
Ron: Only one reason - I relocated to Dallas. Now working for the FDIC cleaning up the US banking system. Some say I traded brutal winters for brutal summers, but so far, I have found Dallas to be a wonderful place to live. Not quite Chicago (my first love) but pretty damn close. When and if my business adventures bring me back to the world of entrepreneurship and the Third Coast, I will reconnect. In the meantime keep up the good work and for God's sake, take care of your health!
Stay in touch, y'all! (yes, they really do talk like that down here)

I was all wrong about Acquity Group Senior Management, they've have come through in the end.
Check this email that just came out today. Employees can buy stock at the IPO price with no commission!!! What a fantastic way to reward the resources (or the bodies as we're called sometimes) for all the billable hours that made this possible. This is generosity that builds loyal employees and shares the success.
This came from Matt Schmeltz today:
"You have worked very hard to make this event a reality. Thank you for your personal contribution to the success of our company. This Program will allow you to buy Acquity Group stock at the IPO price without having to pay a brokerage commission on the purchase."

It gets better about the greed at the top
Old timers tell me there used to be a stock plan way back and shares
were less than a buck
When the chinese bought the company they were forced to sell and made a
small amount. No one bought a new macbook with it.
Bet they would clean up if they were in.
Those same people that were there from the start and there are lots
aren't getting anything.
Ron, youwrite about ipo all the time, is this common now for employees
to get left behind? And you're wrong about matt schmeltz, not a big
jerk. You gotta be tough when managing a bunch of 22 year old sales
guys.

Hi.
I haven't sent a newsletter in forever. I promise to make this the most boring and spammy newsletter EVAR.
Also, I'm going to fill it with only good news. Which will make you sad because you'll think that only good things happen to me. Which is incidentally one of the things that annoys me about Twitter and Facebook -- people always write about how much fun they're having. Which makes me feel like their lives are so much more fun than mine.
It reminds of me of when I used to live in an apartment in San Francisco that had an amazing view of the bay and a big park. I could look out my window and see people jogging, playing sports, sailing, picnicking and having lots of fun. And of course the only time I saw that was when I was inside, alone eating ice cream, watching TV and feeling like a sloth. I'd rather have a view of a brick wall, at least I wouldn't feel so pathetic. Actually that's probably why I love the rain. When it's raining outside I have an excuse for staying in and being pathetic.
Wow what a digression. Getting back to the good news, because I'm so great and you're so sad:
TinyLetter sale.
I sold TinyLetter to MailChimp. They are awesome and rebuilt TinyLetter from almost-scratch and made it super awesome. Check it out at tinyletter.com
Here's news about the TinyLetter sale from MailChimp's CEO:
http://blog.mailchimp.com/mailchimp-acquires-tinyletter/
Fandalism launch
I launched a social network for musicians called Fandalism. Here's some recent news about it:
http://techcrunch.com/2012/04/06/philip-kaplan-fandalism/
A thing I wrote about Fandalism:
http://pud.com/post/21248770833/i-have-404-772-users-now-what
Dumb blog post I wrote today about PayPal:
http://pud.com/post/21336152407/why-i-cant-use-paypal-to-buy-your-product
That's all for now.
Rock on,
pud

Session Overview
The euphoria around social networking compelled many businesses to join consumer conversations, pen expert blogs, and set up social media communities. Yet many corporate players share the challenge of attracting the right audiences to these venues and showing a return on their initiatives.
There are systematic ways to set up for success in social media and scientific methods to gauge results. In this session, you will learn how to:
Understand conversation trends and get to know your influencers
Distinguish between sustainable social media initiatives vs. creative but short-lived ideas
Prepare your organization for social care
Set benchmarks and measure success
About Our Speaker
Idil Cakim has devised social media strategies for Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations for over a decade. She is the author of the book Implementing Word of Mouth Marketing: Online Strategies to Identify Influencers, Craft Stories and Draw Customers (Wiley, 2010), as well as numerous industry briefs and articles on online communications.
Cakim has been a public speaker on issues regarding online crisis communications, word-of-mouth, ethnic minorities' use of the Internet, and e-CRM. She has been widely quoted in trade journals and newspapers such as CNet news, CBS Market Watch, San Jose Mercury News, Chicago Sun Times, Harvard Business Review, the Financial Times and the New York Times. She regularly writes about social media trends and case studies on her blog, dotWOM (www.dotwom.com). In 2010, she was selected 'Digital Communicator of the Year' by PRNews.
Cakim is currently VP of Client Development at NM Incite – a Nielsen / McKinsey company, working with clients from a wide array of industries to identify, initiate and amplify business opportunities in social media. Prior to her role at NM Incite, Cakim was a Senior Vice President in GolinHarris's digital practice and a Director of Burson-Marsteller's think tank—the Knowledge Development group.
A native of Istanbul, she holds an M.A. in Communication from the Annenberg School at University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Sociology from Bryn Mawr College.

This would include a brochure, a fact sheet, a resume, or other items of interest. This will give us all an opportunity to share our interests and find ways to help each other achieve goals.
