*******WIRTH BUSINESS CREDIT - ACQUIRE EQUIPMENT - SAVE ON TAXES*******
Section 179 of the IRS tax law allows for accelerated depreciation on up to $250,000 of equipment for small businesses. In most instances, this applies to financed equipment, as long as the equipment is put into use before the end of the year. That means that you can lease up to $250,000 worth of equipment and immediately take up to a $250,000 tax deduction for 2009. Check with your tax advisor and if you qualify, call us to finance the equipment you need today!
WIRTH Business Credit ( www.wirthchicago.com ) is a local equipment financing company available to help you finance IT, computers, phone systems, networking equipment, office equipment, furniture, retail fixtures, point of sale systems and other business critical equipment. WIRTH is backed by a public company and provides leases for transactions as small as $5,000. Although the credit market is tight, we are still working with startups and less than perfect credit. We are direct lenders (not brokers) and we never sell our leases, so you will always deal with us and not pay any fees to middlemen.
Take a look at our one page application: ( http://wirthchicago.com/Wirth_Lease_App_41.pdf) and call us today!

[Editor's note: May here. I can't give you names today or details but suffice it to say that the report I sent out late last night was just the beginning. Details are starting to gurgle to the surface. The story is tragic, bewildering, very sad, and even bizarre. I don't want to use any names because of the permanent nature of the archives. A very well known person in the tech world who was at the funeral had no comment to about ten of my questions last night. Rumors about what happened have been going oh for three years plus now. Let's leave it at that for today.]

Hey Ron! No name, address, or any attribution (as always).
Don't know if this is helpful to you or not, but I thought I would report in that I saw Spirrison on my flight to SFO this morning. I know you had recently done a kind of "where are they now" report that mentioned Brad, so maybe this is relevant?
We didn't speak, but I'm pretty sure he saw me on the flight, so it won't be much of a secret that I was the one who passed this on to you. Nevertheless, use your best discretion...
I thought that this could possibly be a small piece of the puzzle for you...?

QUESTEK WINS SBIR PHASE II AWARD TO FURTHER DESIGN AND DEVELOP
A LOW-COST, CASTABLE TITANIUM ALLOY
New Alloy May Have Broad Applications in Defense, Energy,
Chemical Processing, Marine, Transportation and other Industry Sectors
EVANSTON, IL, Nov. 30, 2009 - QuesTek Innovations LLC was recently awarded a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) project from the U.S. Army to continue to apply QuesTek's Materials by Design® technology to the design and development of a new castable titanium alloy for Army applications.
The aim of the project is to develop new castable titanium alloy compositions, by exploring designs that incorporate lower cost alloying components and processing steps. Alloy design activities will include minimizing sensitivity to elevated impurity levels (e.g. oxygen and iron) encountered in non-aerospace-grade stock materials. The final composition will first be produced (i.e. cast) and characterized using simplified test geometries, and then at final scale into specific Army components. The design property goals will consider cast titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V (one of the mostly widely used titanium alloys) as one baseline.
A new low-cost titanium alloy with improved castability could see widespread adoption across many Army and Department of Defense platforms, where the exceptional strength-to-weight and corrosion resistance properties of titanium can be combined with the cost savings of near-net-shape processing (i.e. casting). The new alloy has significant potential application in energy, chemical processing, marine, transportation and other commercial and industrial sectors. Benefits of the new alloy will likely include reduced machining costs, less material waste, lower part count, faster speed-to-market, greater equipment durability, and lighter, more efficient equipment.
The 2-year SBIR Phase II contract is valued at up to $729,964.77, with $364,505.00 of initial funding authorized for FY2009. Earlier the Army also awarded QuesTek a $49,998.00, 4-month Option as part of a preceding Phase I SBIR award.
Charlie Kuehmann, President and CEO of QuesTek, commented: "We appreciate this award from the Department of Defense to develop a low-cost castable titanium alloy that can directly address Army needs, and also meet broad commercial and industrial market requirements. This Phase II award builds on our past successes such as Ferrium S53®, our ultra-high-strength, corrosion-resistant steel for aircraft landing gear and other applications. Ferrium S53 was developed in part with Department of Defense funding and is now available for commercial, industrial and governmental use from multiple U.S.-based alloy producers under QuesTek's licenses."

Hello Ronald
Scientists from Argonne National Laboratory and University of Chicago have developed magnetic microdisc that uses magnetic vortices to kill cancer cells. The information was recently published in Nature Materials and offers an unique and targeted way to treat cancer. Argonne scientists are ready to answer your questions about the fascinating forms of cancer treatment, so please feel free to contact me to set up any interviews or for more information.

Ron,
I'm about to publish an article in my blog (Medical Monitoring and Remote Programming: http://medicalremoteprogramming.blogspot.com/ ) of interest to your readers. Biotronik, the German-based manufacturer of implantable devices (particularly cardiac rhythm management devices), funded two studies that provided the evidence that Biotronik Home Monitoring can substitute for in-clinic check-ups and provide more timely alarms for physicians following ICD patients. Normally, ICD patients receive four in-clinic check-ups per year. Remotely monitored patients can be just as effectively followed with one in-clinic check-up per year. Moreover, arrhythmic events were detected significantly earlier in remotely monitored patients. I received the abstracts and the permission to republish from Biotronik. (I have no affiliation with Biotronik.) Publication of this article will be on Wednesday, 12/2/2009.
Remote monitoring is an emerging technology with the capability of providing better care for fewer dollars. It can be part of the solution to provide effective and economical health care.

Gary Dorst
